A crew spent most of the day working the roof of the former Southern Pacific depot in Eagle Lake.
It is just across a vacant lot (formerly the railyard) from the Santa Fe depot.
Although it was just a dusting, the rare sight of SNOW in Eagle Lake, TX brought out the camera.
Here is the north side of the Santa Fe depot as it looked then.
This old loading dock is located just north of the Santa Fe depot in what was formerly the railyard.
Some snow along the tracks...
Cotton Belt 9642 serves as the power on the local.
It is spotting tractors for the John Deere dealer, on the spur between the Santa Fe depot and the Sunset Route in downtown Eagle Lake.
View from the Santa Fe bay window - Cotton Belt 9642 is back on the main after spotting TTX 9709 containing 2 John Deere tractors.
The eastbound signal at CP SA068 usually displays either Green over Red (main track clear) or Red over Red (main track occupied).
Until this day, I had never seen it display Red over Green, which is the alignment for the spur to Chesterville.
The spur is the remnants of the former SP Bellaire Branch - originally the San Antonio & Aransas Pass main track to Houston.
UP 3600 and NS 99?? proceed down the track toward the former Bellaire Branch - nee SA&AP.
As I left Eagle Lake toward Rosenberg, I took the "Wallis route" to parallel FM 1093 and saw the rest of the train.
It was a MOW train, but lighting conditions were too poor to get a photo.
